MCQ ON VEGETATIVE PROPAGATION class 12 for NEET

INTRODUCTION:-
Plants belonging to vegetative propagation by a part of their body other than a seed. The structural unit that is employed in place of seed is called propagule.
The lower plants reproduce vegetatively through budding, fission , fragmentation, gammae, resting buds, spores etc.

Among flowering plants, every part of the body such as roots , stem ,leaves and buds take part in vegetative propagation.

Methods of vegetative propagation have been further divided into two parts
1. Natural vegetative parts
2.Artificial vegetative parts.

Natural methods of vegetative propagation:
Roots :-Modified tuberous roots of sweet – potato, tropioca, dahlia.

Underground stem:-
Suckers : mint , Chrysanthemum
Rhizomes:- canna , ginger
Corms:- banana , crocus

Bulbs:- onion , lilies , garlic
Tubers :- potato

Creeping stems-
Runners :- oxalis
Stolons :- strawberry
Offsets :- pistia

Artificial methods of vegetative propagation:-
Cutting:- grapes , sugarcane
Layering:- orange , pomegranate
Grafting :- mango , roses.
