difference between primary oocyte and secondary oocyte

Follicular development in human female ovary is one of the important biological process leads to formation of mature haploid ovum from germinal epithelium of ovary commonly known as primordial cell. Follicular development start during the embryonic or 6 to 8 months of gestation period of female and at birth time it will be arrested and then begin at puberty after attending the sexual maturity of 12 years age in girls child.

There are several follicles formed during the follicular development’s are primary follicles containing primary oocytes, secondary follicles that contain primary oocytes and tertiary follicles that containing mature secondary oocyte. After this tertiary follicles develop into Graafian follicles and release secondary oocytes for fertilization with sperm. In this topic we explain some maijor difference between primary oocyte and secondary oocyte.

What is the primary oocyte and secondary oocyte?

What is primary oocyte?, primary oocyte is diploid cell surrounded by primary follicles and secondary follicles, formed when the female is still present in the womb or embryonic period and it is developed from oogonium after mitosis it is responsible for development of secondary oocyte after complete completion of first division of meiosis.

What is secondary oocyte?, secondary oocyte is haploid cell develop from primary oocytes after completion of first division of meiosis that surrounded by tertiary and graffian follicle and it is formed at oneset of puberty.

What is the difference between primary oocyte and secondary oocyte?

This questions is very important for class 12th Biology students who are preparing for their annual Board, CBSE/ states board and competitive, Neet, medical examinations.

Key difference between primary oocyte and secondary oocyte is that primary oocyte is diploid cell formed from oogonia after mitosis that surrounded by primary and secondary follicle and it is formed when the female is still present in the womb or embryonic period whereas secondary oocyte is haploid cell develop from primary oocytes after completion of first division of meiosis that surrounded by tertiary and graffian follicle and it is formed at oneset of puberty.

How does primary oocyte differ from secondary oocyte?

Secondary oocyte differ from primary oocyte in following points:- 1) primary oocyte is being diploid in nature while secondary oocyte is haploid, 2) primary oocyte chromosome number is 46 whereas in secondary oocyte chromosome number is 23, 3) primary oocyte formed when the female is still present in the womb or during embryonic period whereas secondary oocyte is formed at oneset of puberty, and 4) primary oocyte is surrounded by primary and secondary follicle whereas secondary oocyte is surrounded by tertiary follicles.

Primary oocyte vs secondary oocyte

How do you compare/ List five differences/ comparison/ distinguish / versus/ between primary oocyte and secondary oocyte are following:-

1) primary oocyte develop from oogonium after mitosis while secondary oocyte develop from primary oocyte after completion of first division of meiosis.

2) primary oocyte is being diploid in nature while secondary oocyte is haploid.

3) primary oocyte chromosome number is 46 whereas in secondary oocyte chromosome number is 23.

4) primary oocyte formed when the female is still present in the womb or during embryonic period whereas secondary oocyte is formed at oneset of puberty.

5) primary oocyte is surrounded by primary and secondary follicle whereas secondary oocyte is surrounded by tertiary follicles.
