INTRODUCTION:-
The nerves that arise from or join the brain are called cranial nerves.
Man has twelve pairs of cranial nerve .They are numbered I to XII in Roman numerals.They leave cranium through apertures called foramina, in its wall, and mainly innervate the parts of the head.
Olfactory nerves arise from the olfactory cells of the nasal sac.It enters the olfactory lobe and extends to the temporal lobe of the cerebral hemisphere.It is a sensory nerve, and is responsible for the sense of smell.
Optic nerves starts from the retina of the eye.The two optic nerves seem to cross each other on the floor of the diencephalon in the front of the infundibulum.
Oculomotor nerve :- it is originates from the floor of the midbrain close to the median line.It controls the movement of the eyeball.
