Difference between homozygous and heterozygous organism

Difference between homozygous and heterozygous organism, hi guys in this article we know about what is homozygous definition and what is heterozygous and try to differentiate between homozygous and heterozygous.

In modern science and inherited factor that determines of biological character of an organism is known as gene. this is functional unit of hereditary material. chemically gene is a segment of DNA and equivalent to factor of Mendel.

Alleles the abbreviated form of the terms allelomorphs indicates alternative form of same gene. Each character has two determine is called factors. For examples in pure tall or pure dwarf plant same area is duplicated (TT and tt) while in hybrid tall both the alleles are present (Tt). An organism having only one allel or another word two identicals alleles is known as homozygous however an individual with two different alleles will be called Heterozygous.

What is homozygous organism? An organism having only one type allel or in other words two identical allele is known as homozygous. Pure dominant allele is represented by capital letter and pure recessive is represented by small letter, for example tall plant in homozygous condition is represented by TT or Dwarf plant by tt.

What is heterozygous organism? An organism having two different alleles will be known as heterozygous. It is represented by two different allele, for example hybrid tall is represented by Tt.

What is Differences between homozygous and heterogeneous organism? An organism having only one type allel or in other words two identical allele is known as homozygous. for example pure tall and pure dwarf is represented by TT and tt. However heterozygous is organism having two different types of allele. For example hybrid tall is represented by two different aliens Tt.

Now briefly explain the difference between homozygous and heterogeneous organism to the point:-

Homozygous:-
1) Homozygous individuals bear similar type of allele for particular traits. for example pure tall plant and pure dwarf plant is represented by TT and tt respectively.

2) it’s bear either dominant or recessive alleles, never both or hybrid condition

3) it produces only one types of gametes during segregation such as T, T or t, t

4) such individuals do not show extra vigour.

Heterozygous:-
1) heterozygous individuals bare different alleles for particular traits. for example hybrid tall is represented by Tt.

2) it always with both dominant and recessive alleles

3) it produces both types of gametes T or t

4) the individuals can show extra vigour (hybrid and vigour or heterosis).
