Apocarpous ovary is define as there are two or more carpel in gynaecium which are free, distinct, separate, or unfused from each other and apocarpous condition seen in Ranunculus, lotus, rose, strawberry, buttercup, Aconitum, etc whereas Syncarpous is define as two or more carpels which are fused together to form a single compound ovary and syncarpous condition seen in Petunia, Althaea, tomato, mango, guava, coconut, mustard, etc.

Apocarpous flower are those flower which containing one or more carpels in ovary which are free, distinct, separate or unfused and generally makes aggregates of fruits. Ranunculus, lotus, rose, strawberry, buttercup, Aconitum, etc are examples of apocarpous whereas syncarpous flower are those flower which containing one or more carpels in ovary which are fused and generally makes one fruit with one or many seed. Petunia, Althaea, tomato, mango, guava, coconut, mustard, etc are examples of syncarpous flower.
